Our pastor believes that the proclamation of the gospel is a work of the whole people of God in an interplay between the preacher's sermon and the listeners' faith and hopes. By using the lectionary--a collection of four weekly readings from the Bible--our proclamation is truly "biblical" in that sermons are based on texts from the whole Bible, and not from among the preacher's favorite texts. The lectionary is also formatted around the various cycles of the Christian year, thus coordinating to the life, mission, death, resurrection, ascension and expected return of Christ in glory. Our pastor broods over a text and seeks to construct a sermon that is faithful to the message of the text itself, rather than choosing lessons that "prove" a preconceived topic, theme or point of view. Our pastor does not preach from a manuscript, but commits the sermon to memory and is able to use eye contact as a means of impacting the listeners in a positive way. Sermons are available on online podcasts and audio tapes and CDs may also be purchased for a nominal fee. All inquiries about getting previous sermons should be directed to the Church Office.
