Sunday Mornings

On Sunday mornings we gather for two Celebration Services at 8:45 am and 10:45 am. The first service is a blended form of celebration, with both contemporary and traditional elements. This service also celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Communion each Sunday. The second service is a traditional form of celebration which observes the seasons and times of the Christian year. The Sacrament of Holy Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month and the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on the second Sunday of the month in January, March, May, July, September and November. Both services offer excellent music from choirs, ensembles, and instrumentalists.

Communion Celebration

The first service of the Christian Sabbath is held at 8:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary. This service is a blended style of celebration with a traditional format of prayers, Scripture readings, sermons and a weekly celebration of Holy Communion combined with contemporary styles of music. The use of a minimalist approach to projected slides makes the technology of the service a natural partner with the traditional setting of the Sanctuary. An Ensemble of musicians uses piano, guitars, flute and the human voice to praise God and to lead others in praising God. The weekly celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion allows a large group of Christians to feel included in a Sunday service whether a person has an extensive church background, is new to the Christian faith, or beginning the process of inquiry.

Traditional Celebration

The second service of the Christian Sabbath is held at 10:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary. The service is a traditional format of prayers, Scripture readings, sermon, a monthly celebration of Holy Communion, and bi-monthly celebrations of the Sacrament of Baptism. Our pastor uses the Revised Common Lectionary as the source of biblical readings for each Sunday and holy season. This service incorporates elements of traditional and contemporary music with the pipe organ, grand piano, handbells, chimes and adult and children's choirs. The service bulletin is inclusive of those who have been attending church for years or for those just beginning the faith journey. We participate in the liturgical cycles throughout the year, thereby marking time with Jesus and the proclamation of his Gospel.
