Care Giving
Care of the body, mind and soul of every human being is a time-honored work of Christian ministry. Wesley Church has a trained team of clergy and lay members who serve as care givers, offering a visible gift of the love and concern of God to others.
Homebound and Life Care Facility Visits
If you are unable to come to Wesley Church because you are living in a care facility or have physical limitations that keep you from leaving your home, we will come to you. Someone from our visitor team will come regularly; the sacrament of Holy Communion will be brought to you. Connect with Bill A.
Hospital Visits
We know where all of the hospitals in the Lehigh Valley are located, and we will come to visit you. If you tell the ministry staff about your scheduled surgery, someone can be with you beforehand and afterwards. If you wish anointing, it can be done during a celebration service, or in the hospital room. If you tell the hospital that you are connected with Wesley Church (our code number is 815 or M26), our office will then tell our ministry staff. During your recovery, WesCare can help with transportation or meals or errands. Connect with Bill A.
Bereavement Visits
We can provide support, comfort and care for members and friends of Wesley Church who have recently experienced a loss and are grieving. Our lay pastoral care givers are selected because of their skill sets and their ability to assist others in dealing with grief and loss from a Christian perspective by exploring the phases of grief recovery, the tasks of grief, and the changes of faith that accompany any grief experience. New Baby Visits
We pledge at a child’s baptism to “surround this child with a community of love and forgiveness that they may grow in their service to others.” So we come to the home of a new baby with a small gift from the congregation and with information about parenting guides that are in our Library. Hospice Care Visits
Lay persons and professional health field persons are available to assist dying patients and their families during the final stages of life. Connect with Bill A.
WesCare
Care and support are offered to meet basic needs such as providing meals, picking up groceries and transportation to the doctor during short term times of sudden need. Connect with Bill A.
ShareCare: Faith In Action

Through our membership, support and affiliations of the ShareCare, Faith in Action organization, Wesley Church offers transportation services, light housekeeping, minor home repairs, yard work, companionship, and respite care to residents of the wider Lehigh Valley. All services are free and available to people who are frail, elderly and disabled, from 18 years of age and older.
Prayer Team
Our prayer team ministry is an online based community of Intercessory Prayer. The Joys and Concerns (Prayer Cards) presented by the congregation during the 8:45 a.m. Communion Celebration or the 10:45 a.m. Traditional Celebration are prayed over by the staff, edited for anonymity and entered into the Prayer Team Email and then broadcast to the team members for their intercessory prayers. Additional emails are sent out on an as-needed basis. You can add a prayer request or become a member the Prayer Team by sending an email to the Wesley Prayer Team.
The Prayer Shawl Ministry
Shawls that are knitted or crocheted are presented to babies, children and adults at their baptism. Also, shawls are given to those facing surgery. Every person entering the Hospice center of the Visiting Nurses Association of St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem receives a Prayer Shawl. Connect with Sylvia.
