We offer opportunities for exploring what faith in Jesus Christ means, and chances to deepen that faith. And then to move into “being” the church in the community.

All of this happens in the network of hearing sermons, doing Bible study, listening in a variety of classes or lectures then joining in mentoring, cooking lunch or supper at a soup kitchen or a housing project or creating a new service project.

In challenging the formation of our faith, we are strengthened to be able encounter the culture that surrounds us with the eyes of Jesus.

Sunday Morning Classes

During the 9:45 a.m. Faith Formation Hour, several topical class series are offered that last three, four or five weeks. Some are discussions, some are Bible studies, some are lectures. Connect with Sue.

The following classes have been developed for Sundays in November:

Classes starting November 9:
Ask the Pastor! Come to the Sanctuary at 9:45 a.m. to ask Pastor Bill Lentz about anything you have on your minds about the church, the community, the faith, the nation, the issues facing all of us, or anything that pops into your head or heart. Three Sundays of questions and back and forth discussion.

Whose Birthday Is It, Anyway? Why do we give gifts to each other if it’s Jesus’ birthday that we are celebrating? Could we create gifts that both honor Jesus AND show love to others AND reduce the Christmas bills that come due in January? Three Sundays of planning for an alternative Christmas, meeting in the Library.

Ongoing topics:
The Five Love Languages Does your partner know how to make you really feel loved? Do you know how to love your partner in the way that means the most to them? Dr. Gary Chapman's The Five Love Languages helps couples learn to understand and express their love for their partner more effectively. Join us as we explore his book. Reading the book is optional.

Tailgate Time! Men of all ages are invited to gather in the upper parking lot at 9:45 a.m. for a time of conversation and camaraderie. Come and join us for this informal time together.

Book Discussions

The discussions are held on the second Thursday evening of the month. We read books written by people who write about life situations that stretch beyond our experiences: a slave boy in Sudan, a girl growing up in a strict Catholic household in Nigeria, a family choosing to have a Down syndrome child, a girl growing up in the remote Himalayas, growing up in a welfare home or a migrant family, or building schools in Pakistan. Connect with Barbara.
