People of faith are enjoined in both the Old and New Testaments to demonstrate love for God by serving their neighbors. Ministries of hospitality encompass concern and respect for others in our sphere of influence wherever and however we can welcome them.
At Wesley Church, we open our accessible doors to all God's people, without regard to any circumstance of life. Thus we declare that our doors, hearts, ministries and membership is open to all children of God no matter their marital or family status, age, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, education, citizenship, mental or physical capacity, economic situation or what their personal spiritual journey or faith tradition was or is now.
To us, visitors are honored guests who offer us the chance to display with our actions what we believe in our hearts. Caring church members are trained to welcome, guide, support and assist all who enter the church for whatever reasons. Connect.
Radical Hospitality Ministry
It is our passion that everyone coming to Wesley church feels accepted and cared for. From the time they enter the parking lot we, “People Blessing People,” also known as “The Purple People Greeters” strive to lovingly welcome stranger and friend and to serve them with grace. Our ministry offers six areas in which to serve, listed below.
Atrium Cafe Hosts
These are the folks who are responsible for our great Sunday morning refreshments – the goodies that make us smile, give us an opportunity to hang-out for a while, chat with each other and perhaps introduce ourselves to someone we don’t know.
This team has the opportunity to greet friends and strangers with a hello, smile, handshake or hug. When it’s helpful, we escort folks to places in the church that may be unfamiliar to them, answer questions and try to fill a need if there is one so that no one feels like a stranger at Wesley Church.
Hospitality Desk Hosts
These folks make every attempt to answer questions about the activities of our church. We offer Who, What, When and Where information. While we may not always have the answers, we will make every effort to find them. It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet and chat with our first time guests as they come to the desk to collect their special gift.
Team members greet people with a friendly voice on the church phone and welcoming smile in the office. Help is given with office tasks as printing, copying, folding, etc.
Parking Lot Hosts
This team is the first to offer a smile, a wave, and varied assistance to family and guests, from locating a parking spot to holding an umbrella, a bag, or even a child.
This ministry is one of service to others. We assist friends and strangers in any need they may have while with us on a Sunday morning. We make certain that bulletins are in hand, seating is found in the Sanctuary, Sunday communion is orderly, collection is seen to and attendees have easy access to all aspects of Wesley Church.
